AN ALTERNATIVE TO
ASCORA

Lets see how they compare...
Overview

Trak and Ascora are both web-based trade management apps. Ascora has four different levels of payment plans (Foundations, Professional, Premium and Ultimate). As a free trial grants you temporary access to the Premium plan, we have chosen this for the comparison. One of Ascora's biggest competitive points is their mobile app which enables offline access by syncing data when an internet connection eventually becomes available. Their app also has a customer portal and full accounting integrations. Trak, however, enables users to create and complete SWMS and reports, create partial invoices, share and annotate files, and allows for more customisation options than Ascora.

Feature comparison

Price

On Trak, you pay $1 per job, and that’s it. With that, you have access to all of the app’s base features. Ascora’s payment options are slightly more complex. Aside from the different payment plans for levels of usage, there are also different fees for different levels of users. The base rate for the Premium Plan starts at $59 per month, then it’s another $39 per month per full access mobile user, and another $9 per month per timesheet user.

Number of Staff

UNLIMITED
Restricted

Trak allows for companies to add an unlimited number of users and subcontractors at no extra cost. Ascora allows for an unlimited number of office and ‘No Access’ users.

Subcontractors

Both apps allow for subcontractors to be added to companies accounts. On Trak, subbies can log onto the app and see the relevant job information or their schedule. On Ascora, subbies would be considered ‘No Access’, and although they can be assigned to jobs, they cannot login to the app and receive their run sheets manually.

Customisable Permissions

On Trak, you’re able to adjust the permissions for user groups, and create as many of these as you like. There is no information available on the Ascora website about whether or not this is a feature.

Customer Portal

Ascora has a separate portal for customers, although there is little information available to understand the level of access that they have. Trak does not currently have this feature.

Quoting & Invoicing

Both apps allow you to quote and invoice clients instantly. However, quoting is not available to Foundation users of Ascora, and there is no way to approve either.

Partial Invoices

On Trak, you can create partial invoices which can be useful for if you’re getting paid in installments. Ascora does not have this feature.

Payments

Both apps allow you to take manual credit card, cash and cheque payments, and create credit notes. Trak also integrates with Stripe and BPAY so that users can take automatic credit card payments.

Scheduling

Both Trak and Ascora allow for scheduling of jobs. Trade Trak also allows for scheduling of non-job related items such as RDO’S or annual leave.

SWMS

On Trak, admins are able to create custom SWMS templates for users to adjust and complete while on the jobsite. Ascora has no specific SWMS feature, and their report builder is only for Ultimate users.

Report Builder

Trak allows users to create completely custom report templates and for those to be completed on the jobsite – these could include things such as job completion reports or site checks. Ascora has a custom reports function but this is only available on the Ultimate plan.

File Attachments

Both apps allow users to attach files to jobs, quotes and invoices. On Trak, they can also be attached to SWMS and reports.

Annotations

Trak allows users to annotate files that have been uploaded, which can include adding drawings or text onto a copy of the file. Ascora do not have this feature.

Share Files

On Trak, you’re able to share files with other users, subcontractors or even other individuals by email or through generating shareable links. Ascora does not have this feature, files can only be seen by users on the job or downloaded.

Tasks

On both apps, users are able to create tasks for both users and jobs, assign them, add due dates and add reminders.

Customisable Statuses

While both apps allow you to place statuses on features such as jobs, quotes and invoices, Ascora does not allow for these to be customised. Trak allows companies to set their own statuses in settings which can be applied in the future.

Signatures

On Trak, you can obtain signatures on any device for quotes, SWMS and reports and even have multiple people sign off. On Ascora, it appears that there are only sign-offs on quotes.

Accounting Integrations

Ascora integrates with MYOB, Quickbooks and Xero. Trak offers a one way integration with Xero, where data such as clients and invoices can be pushed to the software, and also offers data exports for MYOB.

Offline Access

Ascora works in a limited capacity offline for mobile users and will sync data once an internet connection is reached. As Trak is a web app, it requires internet action for use.

Support Videos

Both apps have series of training videos to help users get a feel for the software.

Knowledge Base
